TREASURE: Rio Grande's First Chapter Officers

As I was looking for old files of Rio Grande Chapter in the Masonic Center just this afternoon, I found a very valuable piece of history, the very first chapter officers of Rio Grande Chapter, Order of DeMolay. Also included is the pioneering officers and members of the Mother's Club of RGC.

This page is included in the souvenir book of the 10th District Convention of Lodges Comprised in Masonic District No. 26 under the jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines with the theme, "Masonry in Youth Development". It was held on December 13, 1980. 

My fellow DeMolays, you seldom find a valuable piece of history like this so I encourage you to look at the photo and be proud that you are a member of DeMolay specifically of Rio Grande Chapter.

1st Southern Mindanao Senior DeMolay Summit

The Feliciano Inigo DeMolay Alumni Chapter No. 1 (FIDAC #1) is inviting all Senior DeMolays to join the first ever Southern Mindanao Senior DeMolay Alumni that will happen on the 10th of December 2011 at the Ladislawa Gym and Country Club, Ladislawa Garden Village, Buhangin, Davao City.

Registration fee is P350.00 only inclusive of lunch and dinner. The event will start at 8 o'clock in the morning and everybody is requested to bring their basketball attire.

Active DeMolays are also welcome to register and participate to the said event.

What are you waiting for? Prepare those jerseys and clean those rubber shoes and start practicing for this Saturday's event!

RGC Conducts DeMolay Education to AAC

Members of Rio Grande Chapter, Order of DeMolay travelled to Midsayap and conducted a lecture about DeMolay to the pioneering batch of Apolinario A. Corpuz Chapter last November 12, 2011.

Senior DeMolays Bro. Chris John de la Cruz, Bro. Adrian Meriales, Bro. Genghis Khan Manero, Bro. Khaizzar Ampang and incumbent Master Councilor Bro. Wealtho John Merillana gave their time to help AAC educate their pioneering batch of 17 petitioners and familiarize them to the history, mission and lessons of DeMolay.

The team was received and accommodated by Bro. Rande Len Moralde, Bro. Rey Celestial and Bro. RJR Alvaro. These are the Senior DeMolays stationed in Midsayap who instigated for the establishment of a DeMolay Chapter in their area.

We hope the pioneering batch of AAC Chapter have learned all the lessons that were shared to them and that they will apply it to themselves as their membership in DeMolay succeeds.

Apolinario A. Corpuz Chapter of Midsayap recently got their Letters Temporary from the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay of the Republic of the Philippines  that was presented during the Mindanao Jurisdictional Conclave in Cotabato City held last October.

To AAC Chapter and its adult volunteers, goodluck and live the DeMolay way!

The Templars' Grand Master

See this video from the french film "Les Rois Maudits" or when translated to english, "The Accursed Kings". It is a TV series in France which in one of their episodes, depicts the burning at the stake of DeMolay together with Guy of Auvergne, the templar who stood with his grand master.

On October 22, 2011, the Board of Directors and National Executive Officers of DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines (DAAP) released a circular regarding their opinion on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines, Incorporated (DAAP, Inc.)

The Board of Directors together with the National Executive Officers of DAAP intructs and directs all DeMolay Alumni Chapters to  recognize and support DAAP only (and not DAAP, Inc.) in its official dealings and transactions unless stated otherwise by the governing body of DAAP. Furthermore, all must be aware that DAAP and DAAP, Inc are two separate and distinct legal entities.

Dad Land Memorial Day

Today, November 8, we celebrate the life of a man who devoted his full time and effort to the creation and organization of a brotherhood club young men with a dream that the good boys of today will become better leaders of tomorrow.

Dad Frank S. Land

June 21, 1890 - November 8, 1959

Dad Frank Sherman Land, founder of the Order of DeMolay. Today marks his 52nd death anniversary, and up to this day, DeMolay has been growing internationally and been inspiring the youth to the lessons this great Order have taught every one of us. May the 7 candles continue to burn in our hearts remembering the vision of whom we all consider the father of DeMolay.

In commemoration to Dad Frank Land, we're sharing this video to every DeMolay young or old. This is a video produced by DeMolay International as a tribute to Dad Land. A rare video that you can share and use to observe this important obligatory day, the Dad Frank S. Land Memorial Day.

The Brother of the First DeMolay

Many of us are familiar with the First DeMolay in the World, none other than Louis Lower. It is because of Brother Louis that Dad Frank Land got so inspired he felt there's a need to create a boy's club that would be fit for boys just like Brother Louis. A boy and a man who started the Order of DeMolay.

I guess some of you might not know that Brother Louis has a younger brother, a young kid who was with Brother Louis all the time and even was a mascot of the DeMolay Baseball Team.

His name, Elmer W. Lower, a successful broadcaster, journalist and educator. He was a DeMolay. Here is a video made by a colleague when he was asked to do biographical video presentation for the 90th birthday of Brother Elmer. With this video I hope we will all be inspired by his success, leadership and dedication to his field and in life.

Brother Lower was initiated into Mother Chapter in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1929. Lower is a Legion of Honor recipient. Lower was inducted into the DeMolay Hall of Fame on May 1, 1988.

“The DeMolay movement was important to me from the date it was founded. It made a strong contribution to my character at a very formative period of my life. It showed me that I could set and achieve a high standard of ethics and morals, although at the time I doubt that I ever used those words.”
Brother Elmer Lower was born on March 7, 1913 and joined our Creator on July 26, 2011. He died at the age of 98.

The Legacy of DeMolay

For past decades, the Order of DeMolay have produced distinguished, respected, and honorable DeMolay members and are successful in their own fields. Even though they have passed the noon time of life, still the teachings, morals and values this great Order have taught us remains in their hearts and are very proud of their DeMolay experience and Masonic Heritage.

In connection, I am glad to share to all of you a rare video that was been produced by the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay sometime in the '80s. You guys can also use this as a material to promote DeMolay awareness in your area or jurisdiction. Enjoy!

Brother Vallejo named JMC for Mindanao

The Rio Grande Chapter, Order of DeMolay would like to extend its congratulations to the newest Jurisdictional Master Councilor (JMC) for Mindanao, Brother Clyde Marion Vallejo, 19 years old, an active member of Buenaventura A. Sabulao Chapter in Kidapawan City.

Bro. Clyde was installed as JMC during the 3rd Masonic Youth Sportsfest and 11th DeMolay Jurisdictional Conclave and Congress held at Cotabato City on October 29-31.

Bro. Vallejo was initiated to the Order on May 17, 2009 and served several offices in his mother chapter before being named as JMC for Mindanao. He was  a Chaplain  (Term B - 2009), Junior Councilor (Term A - 2010), and was later seated as Master Councilor (Term B - 2010). He currently holds the office of Treasurer for 2 consecutive terms for this year 2011.

Our incumbent Jurisdictional Master Councilor is a 3rd year student taking up Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in Notre Dame of Kidapawan College in Kidapawan City.

He hopes to fulfill his duties and responsibilities as JMC for Mindanao and bring about progress to the DeMolay movement and expects full support from all chapters in his jurisdiction.

12th National DeMolay Conclave Announcement NTSNEG2A4CQU

Prepare yourselves for the 12th National DeMolay Conclave, Congress and Olympics on May 17-20, 2012 at Graceland Estates and Country Club, Tayabas City, Quezon Province to be hosted by Kalilayan Chapter, Order of DeMolay, Lucena City sponsored by Kalilayan Lodge No. 37 F & A.M.

Illegal Conferral of Degrees of the Order

DeMolays,

     Below is the edict sanctioned by the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay, of the Republic of the Philippines in relation with chapters conferring the degrees of the Order without meeting the Sacred Landmarks of DeMolay dated December 8, 2010. 

      For everyone to remember, here are the Sacred Landmarks of the Order of DeMolay:

      A DeMolay Chapter must be sponsored by a generally recognized Masonic Body or Bodies.

      Membership in a DeMolay Chapter  shall be limited to boys:

1.  Who are not yet twenty-one years of age.
2.  Who profess a belief in God and Reverence for His Holy Name.
3.  Who affirm their loyalty to their country and respect for its flag.
4.  Who adhere to the practice of personal morality.
5.  Who pledge themselves to uphold the high ideals typified by the seven cardinal virtues in  the Crown of Youth.
6.  Who accept the philosophy of the Universal Brotherhood of Man and the nobility of character typified by the life and death of Jacques DeMolay.

     Moreover, a petition for membership in the Order shall be received only from a boy who passed his thirteenth (13) birthday and who has not reached his twenty-first (21)  birthday, and who is recommended by two (2) members of the Chapter to which the petition is made, or by a Senior DeMolay holding a Senior DeMolay certificate, or by a Master Mason. In their case, the petitioner must be sponsored by a Master Mason in good standing, or known and satisfactorily vouched for by the Advisory Council of the Chapter.

Our Boys Brought Home The Bacon!

     From a very successful 3rd Masonic Youth Sports Fest and 11th Jurisdictional Conclave and Congress held at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Udin Sinsuat in Cotabato City, our able and active DeMolay boys participated in the various games and won several competitions prepared by the host of the event, Dionisio Gutierrez Chapter.

   CONGRATULATIONS RIO GRANDE BOYS!

     One of the highlights of the event was the Paintball Competition where our boys proudly accepted the challenge. After an exciting and thrilling shootout, Rio Grande Chapter championed the competition. Of course, we bagged other awards as well.
